PAREB

The PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® BOARDS, INC. (PAREB)  is the oldest and largest real estate service organization in the Philippines with close to 50 chapters nationwide, known as local constituent member boards having their territorial jurisdiction over a province or chartered city, with a combined membership roster of over 2,000 REALTORS® all over the courntry.  Its membership is composed of duly LICENSED real estate brokers, many of whom are licensed appraisers, licensed real estate consultants, property developers, builders and practitioners of other professions. PAREB was formally founded on May 15, 1960 and traces its  beginnings in 1938. PAREB  is internationally recognized as the premiere real estate service organization in the Philippines, with direct and exclusive linkage since 1960 with the National Association of REALTORS (NAR)  in a one-million membership strong organization based in the United States of America. 
      

PAREB
 is the only real estate organization in the Philippines whose individual members internationally authorized to use the title "REALTOR®".
 

REALTOR® is a service mark registered in the Commission of Patents of the United States of America as Document No. 515199 and in the Philippine Patent Office as Document No. 5385, as property of the National Association of REALTORS® or NAR, is a requisite for entitlement to use the patented designation.


Such authority was conferred to PAREB pursuant to an agreement signed on November 2, 1960 at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang Palace by then NAREB President C. Armel Nutter and then PAREB President Antonio Varias and witnessed by then Philippine President, Carlos P. Garcia and the US Ambassador, John D. Hickerson.


The NAREB-PAREB Agreement provides that "the emblem seal and the term REALTOR® should be used and employed exclusively within the Philippines by PAREB xxx." and that PAREB shall, among others, "permit said term to be used by the Association and members thereof who subscribe to the Code of Ethics xxx."



Unauthorized use of REALTOR® is an infringement of and is punishable under Republic Act No. 166. It also constitutes a ground for revocation of a real estate broker's license pursuant to the Department of Trade (DTI) Administrative Order 75-1


PAREB has long been
at the forefront of professionalizing the real estate profession as well as promoting and expanding trade linkages to ensure a dynamic real estate industry.  It has since the 1960's been an indispensable partner of the Bureau of Commerce (now the DTI) in regulating the trade.
